Major contract awards placed with Petards

26 June 2008

Petards has been awarded two major contracts from the MoD worth in excess of £2m.

The first is for the supply of airborne chaff and flare dispensing equipment. This equipment will form part of an Integrated Defensive Aids Suite to be installed onto UK rotary wing aircraft and is designed to protect the aircraft from a range of ground launched missiles including the Man Portable Air Defence Systems (MANPADS) that are in widespread use throughout the world.

This is the latest in a series of contracts received over recent years to supply equipment for use on the RAFs C-130 J and K transport aircraft and the Merlin Mk.3, Chinook Mk.2, and Puma helicopters, the RNs Merlin Mk.1, Sea King Mk.4 and Lynx Mk.8 helicopters, and the British Armys Lynx Mk.9. It establishes Petards as a leading UK supplier of Countermeasures Dispensing Equipment.

The second contract has been awarded to provide a range of electronic equipment in support of the Armys CRARRV battlefield support vehicle fleet under the MoDs Sustain Programme. This contract continues Petards Joyce-Loebl's tradition of providing ruggedised, reliable electrical and electronic control systems across the range of UK armoured vehicles which include the Challenger 2 MBT and the Warrior APC.
