Our defence division can trace its roots back to an innovative North-East UK-based engineering start-up, founded as a spin-out of Newcastle University in 1951, called Joyce-Loebl Ltd. The company now sits as Petards Joyce-Loebl Ltd, a separate trading business inside Petards Group Plc.
We maintain a very close working relationship with Prime defence contractors and the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD), based on our successful provision of products and services over the past seventy years. Our values and standards as a business have always remained the same, but we habitually update our technical and managerial standards to meet all required legislation and regulations, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, ISO 45001, PAS99, DAOS and AAOS. We are accredited to Cyber Essentials Plus and foster a strong internal cyber security ethos. We have also been accredited as a Platinum Member by EcoVadis, placing us in the Top 1% globally of ethical and environmentally conscious manufacturers.
Our defence division is extremely experienced at working within security-conscious, regulated environments. All our defence division staff retain appropriate levels of security clearance for the classifications of contracts they work on, including enhanced levels for our deployable field service engineers.

Our team
