Gulf State ANPR camera contract win

29 October 2009

Petards announces that it has secured an order to supply Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras to be fitted on a new fleet of traffic cars for one of the Gulf State police forces.

The order, which is worth over £0.5m, will result in each of the new cars having Petards Hawk Plus 2i and Mini Hawk 2i cameras integrated into the light bars providing a 360° reading capability which will automatically read passing number plates, alerting police officers of any illegal, stolen or wanted vehicles.

Deliveries of the cameras are expected to commence towards the end of this year and be completed early in 2010.

The high recognition rates and reliability of Petards' cameras are major factors in customers' selection process and this has resulted in them being fitted extensively both in the UK and internationally.

Petards Chief Executive Bill Conn said "Gaining this order is excellent news for Petards and demonstrates the growing international reputation of our ANPR cameras. While historically the UK has led the way in ANPR technology, customers in other markets are rapidly coming to understand the benefits of these advanced surveillance systems. During 2009 we have been seeing a growth in opportunities overseas and we expect this to develop further in the coming years."
