Petards has a long and distinguished history of designing, manufacturing, repair and remanufacture of equipment for the armoured vehicle sector.

The area in which we specialise within this sector are the control boxes within a vehicle that control and manage the systems of that vehicle.

Vehicle Integrated Control System (VICS)

The Vehicle Integrated Control System (VICS) is the latest in a long line of successful design and manufacture projects awarded to Petards.  The VICS unit is an engine and gearbox management system for the Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank and the Titan and Trojan AFV that share the same engine and gearbox as the Challenger 2.  The contract was awarded by BAE Systems Land Systems, Newcastle, formerly Alvis Vickers, the company that started Petards on the path of fighting vehicle technology.

Not only was the VICS unit designed and manufactured by the engineers at Petards, but also all associated test equipment that goes with the system.
