Senior Buyer

Reporting to Purchasing Manager

Purpose of the role

Provide a high level of electronic commodity buying expertise, required for existing, new product development and prototype build.

Key result areas

Tender, evaluate and negotiate for supply of goods and services which meet the requirements of the businesses for quality, cost and service.
Provide commercial and contractual input to project definition, planning and execution within the supply chain.
Ensure application of appropriate contractual and commercial conditions that may be relevant to suppliers.
Be able to source product from drawings and specifications as well as obsolete parts in some instances.
Process purchase orders using an MRP system.
Submit monthly reports on key performance indicators such as supplier performance, stock levels and savings targets.

Key Working Relationships

Experience / Knowledge

The ideal candidate will have a proven and knowledgeable technical background in electronics with strong technical purchasing skills (particularly negotiation and contract skills).
Knowledge of electronic component sourcing from international suppliers worldwide desirable.
Understanding of Product Lifecycles.
High-Technology, Automotive or Aerospace industry experience
Excellent analytical, project management and communication skills
Good working knowledge of Kanban, MRP systems and excellent IT skills.
Willingness to travel is essential to fulfil the objectives of the role

Qualifications

Degree/HND in a Business / Technology specialism or a qualification in Purchasing (MCIPS)
