Reporting to Head of Engineering

Purpose of the role

To drive and deliver winning bids. The Bid Manager is the project manager of the bid with the aim to win a contract. They are responsible for managing and organising the bid team resources (engineering / supply chain / project management and sales) to produce the required deliverables.

Key result areas

  • Producing high quality and successful bids.
  • Creating bid costing and sales pricing in order to maximise margins whilst remaining aware of the competitive commercial environment.
  • Co-ordinate a bid strategy for each opportunity prior to starting each bid.
  • Reviewing and monitoring the progress of bids and resolving and issues and problems which may arise through a bid status / review process.
  • Identifying and maximising the skill and capability from the internal resource available ( engineering / supply chain / project management and sales ) which is required to deliver high quality and successful bids.
  • To advise and report to Senior Management on potential risks and cash flow analysis.
  • To regularly report on the progress and success rate of bids and tenders.
  • To establishing, develop and maintain a bid library.

Experience / Knowledge

  • Experience and demonstrable success in Bid Management in an engineering / technology biased sector
  • Proven knowledge and exposure to delivering £1m - £15m tenders
  • Experienced in developing leading and managing bid teams
  • Experience of operating to fixed and challenging deadlines in a fast paced results driven environment
  • Experienced in working in a project based environment
  • Budgetary experience

Qualifications

  • Degree in a Business / Technology specialism
